Coffee Brew OÜ is the controller for personal-data processing whose purposes and means we determine, including the app's handling of your notebook and requests you send to us. This policy explains how Wonder Coffee works and when information is processed by external services.
Your journal entries, notes, ratings, coffee bags, recipes, saved places, visit states and achievements are saved on your device. Preferences such as haptic feedback and training suggestions are also stored locally.
You do not need a separate Wonder Coffee account. When iCloud is available, the app synchronises your notebook through Apple's CloudKit service in the private database associated with your Apple Account. The information sent includes notebook content, changes, deletion markers and the identifiers needed to match records between devices. The app stores an iCloud account identifier locally to keep one account's library separate from another account's library.
We do not operate a separate company server that receives your notebook. Private iCloud storage is still cloud storage: Apple provides its infrastructure and processes information under its applicable terms and privacy notices. We remain responsible for the app's handling of your data; using iCloud does not remove that responsibility.
Sync runs while the app is open and active. It requires an available iCloud account, network access and sufficient storage. Offline changes remain on the device and wait for a later sync attempt. Sync is not guaranteed to finish immediately or while the app is closed. Devices need the same Apple Account and compatible app versions; a different account pauses sync rather than moving the previous account's library.
Your iPhone's backup settings are separate from app synchronisation. Removing a local copy or uninstalling the app does not automatically remove the corresponding CloudKit data or device backups.
With the access you allow in iOS, location helps show nearby coffee places, distances and the nearest-coffee widget. The location supplied by iOS can be approximate or precise. The app does not create a stored GPS coordinate history in your notebook or include raw GPS readings in notebook sync. Saved places and entries can nevertheless identify places you choose or visit. Apple services may process information when providing location and maps.
You can revoke location access in iOS Settings and continue browsing places manually. Location-based features will then be limited.
The camera can read a coffee-bag label. You can also select a photo with the system photo picker. Recognition uses on-device Apple frameworks, including an on-device language model when available. The app does not upload the selected image or recognised label text to an external AI service. The notebook stores the fields you choose to save, rather than the original scan image. You can review suggestions or enter details manually.
The app uses Apple Maps services to display maps and place information. It does not download external photographs of coffee shops.
Opening a website, directions in another map app, or an email link lets the service you choose process the information needed for that action. For example, a directions link can include the destination's coordinates. Those services have their own privacy notices:
Sharing your coffee passport or a place uses the system share sheet. You choose the destination and whether to share. Information included in the shared item becomes available to that destination and its recipients.
The app may show a suggestion for our in-person coffee training. Eligibility is checked on your device using the region selected in your iPhone settings, not GPS or an IP-based location lookup. You can disable training suggestions in the app's settings. The app does not send your selected region or notebook to the training website to choose this suggestion.
Visiting coffeetrainings.com or booking an in-person course is a separate website interaction covered by the Coffee Trainings website privacy policy. The app does not itself process course bookings or payment-card details.
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, any name you provide and attachments you choose to send. Please avoid including unnecessary personal or sensitive information. We use this information to answer your request, resolve problems and meet applicable obligations. Our support mailbox uses Apple iCloud Mail to send, receive and store correspondence. Apple processes the messages and service information needed to provide that service under its applicable terms and privacy notices.
Where the GDPR applies to processing for which we are responsible:
We do not include an advertising or third-party analytics SDK in the app, use cross-app advertising tracking, or sell your personal data. Sending us a support request does not subscribe you to marketing emails.
Current notebook records remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app and its local data. Sync history has the separate retention behaviour described below. Archiving an item is not deletion. Removing the app through Delete App, rather than Offload App, removes its local app data through iOS, but does not by itself erase CloudKit data.
Deleting a journal entry removes it from the current journal and queues a deletion marker for sync. Other devices apply that deletion when they successfully synchronise. The current sync implementation also retains earlier versions and deletion markers to resolve changes between devices. Deleting the visible entry therefore does not erase its complete historical content from local sync records or iCloud. These historical records currently have no automatic expiry period. There is currently no in-app action that erases the whole cloud library and all retained versions, or exports the complete cloud history. To request erasure or a copy, contact anton@coffeetrainings.com. We will assess the request and explain the steps available and any limitations; ordinary entry deletion is not complete historical erasure. Apple's Apple Account data export does not include data stored in third-party CloudKit containers.
Device backups and previously shared copies have their own lifecycle. You manage backups through Apple or your backup software. We cannot remotely erase your device or items already received by another service or person. Reinstalling the app with the same iCloud account may download the existing cloud library again.
We keep ordinary support correspondence for up to 12 months after the request is closed, to handle relevant follow-up and recurring problems. We delete it earlier if it is no longer needed for those purposes. If specific correspondence is needed for a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, we keep only the necessary information for the applicable obligation or claim period. External services apply their own retention rules to service records and backups.
Access to correspondence is limited to people who need it to handle the request and service providers performing the relevant task. We may disclose information where legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. The app uses Apple's private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. We do not ask you for your Apple Account password. Private database access does not itself mean that all information has end-to-end encryption.
Apple provides CloudKit storage and our iCloud Mail service. For app-directed CloudKit processing, the iCloud terms in the Apple Developer Program License Agreement describe Apple's processing on the developer's behalf, confidentiality, security, assistance with privacy requests and international-transfer safeguards. Apple also processes account and service information for its own purposes as described in the Apple Privacy Policy and its iCloud Mail privacy information.
Apple and its service providers, and services you choose to open or share with, may process information outside the European Economic Area. Apple's published terms and privacy policy describe safeguards including adequacy decisions and standard contractual clauses where applicable. We do not promise that notebook data or support emails stay in Estonia or the EEA. You can contact us for further information about the safeguards applicable to processing for which we are responsible.
Where applicable, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data we process, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights have conditions and exceptions. We may need proportionate information to verify a request; we do not require you to send your entire local notebook to exercise rights concerning correspondence we hold.
Contact anton@coffeetrainings.com. We respond within applicable GDPR deadlines, normally one month; if a lawful extension is needed, we explain it. You may complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate or another competent supervisory authority.
The app does not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you. Recognition suggestions and coffee achievements are app features, not such decisions.
We will update this policy when our practices change and publish the updated date. Material changes will be explained before relevant new processing starts. The current policy is available at coffeetrainings.com/wonder-coffee-privacy.
